Planning a stag weekend in Cardiff with CIWW

So you’ve been given the task of planning your best friend’s stag do, first of all, what an honour! Obviously you will want to give him the best send off into married life, so why not do something different, something that he will look back upon with fond memories. In this article we will provide you with a number of tips that will make planning a stag weekend in Cardiff a much easier task.

Choosing activities for your stag

As much as everyone enjoys a good ‘knees up’, a stag weekend in Cardiff isn’t complete without enjoying some of the best activities that the capital city has to offer. Gone are the days when a day in the pub would make the perfect stag do, these days it’s all about making memories and enjoying a new experience with your best mates.

If you’re looking for adrenaline fuelled activities, we have a number of options that are ideal for stag groups. Why not take on the rapids and experience the thrills of our awesome white water course! Other activities available include River Boarding, Canoe and Kayaking, Gorge Walking, Hot Dogging, Indoor Surfing and Stand Up Paddleboarding.

Remember, the best stag activities are the ones that encourage members of the group to bond, especially when you consider that some of the people attending the stag may not have met before. Enjoy activities as a group, and most importantly, stay safe.

Accommodation

We have close relationships with a number of hotel partners in the Cardiff area, all of which are ideal bases for a stag weekend in the capital city. First up we have the Future Inns, comfortable and stylish hotel located in Cardiff Bay and just a short walk from the bars and restaurants of Mermaid Quay.
Another hotel we recommend is the Holiday Inn Express, located on the waterfront area of the old East Dock in Cardiff Bay. Again, this hotel is just a short walk away from Mermaid quay. Walk 15/20 minutes from either of these hotels and you will find yourself in the bustling city centre.

If you’re not bothered about staying in the city centre, the Vale Hotel is one of the UK’s most desirable short break destinations. The hotel consists of over 650 acres of wonderful countryside, 143 luxury hotel rooms, two hugely popular 18 hole championship golf courses and Wales largest spa.

Deciding who to invite

Ask the groom to think about which friends he would like to invite to the stag do, you can then compile a list of everyone you need to contact. Try and keep it to close friends, more than 20 people can be difficult to deal with. These days it has become popular for grooms to invite the bride’s father, brother and other family members. Who you invite should be down to the groom, so make sure you consult with him first.

Setting a date

A stag-do should be close to the wedding date but not too close that it has an impact on the main event. Stag dos typically tend to take place about a month or two prior to the wedding date. Choose a few weekends and pitch the dates to everyone who will be attending, you can then choose the weekend which is the least conflicted. Another suggestion is to ask each member of the group to state dates that they will be unable to make.

Over the years we have provided packages for hundreds of stag groups, from doing this we know exactly what makes a great stag weekend. If you have any enquiries or would like to book any of our activities, give us a call today on (029) 2082 9970
